Explain why the SSA triangle with sides a 4 b 14 and A 45

Explain why the SSA triangle with sides a = 4, b = 14 and A = 45 degree cannot be solved. The sides and angles are shown in the triangle below. Note: squareroot 2 = 1.4, squareroot2/2 = 0.7.

Solution

A = 45 ; b = 14

h/b = sin45;

h = b*sin45 = 14*sin45 = 9.9

solve the rt angled triangle with angleB

sinB = h/a = 9.9/4 = 2.474

we know sin value cannot be greater than 1

Since we are getting sinB = 2.474.Therefore the triangle ABC cannot be solved
