a Find the magnetic field a distance L from the wire and a d

a)

Find the magnetic field a distance L from the wire and a distance L+W from   the wire.

b)

Use your answer from a to find Fad,x, the x-?component of the force exerted by the infinite wire on segment ad of the loop and Fbc,x, the x-?component of the force exerted by the infinite wire on segment bc of the loop.

Solution

a)

Magnetic field at a distance of L

B=uoI2/2piL =(4pi*10-7)*0.234/2pi*0.29

B=1.614*10-7 T

Magnetic field at a distance of L+W

B=uoI2/2pi(L+W) =(4pi*10-7)*0.234/2pi*(0.29+0.76)

B=4.457*10-8 T

b)

X-component of  force exerted by the infinite wire on segment ad of the loop

Fad,x=BI1H

Fad,x = (1.614*10-7)*0.509*0.32

Fad,x =2.63*10-8 N

X-component of  force exerted by the infinite wire on segment bc of the loop.

Fbc,x =BI1H =(4.457*10-8)*0.509*0.32

Fbc,x=7.26*10-9 N

a) Find the magnetic field a distance L from the wire and a distance L+W from the wire. b) Use your answer from a to find Fad,x, the x-?component of the force
