Have you ever wondered why hospital floors are always hard surface in patient areas? Researchers hypothesized that carpet would be a better environment, on average, for bacteria to thrive because it\'s more difficult to clean than the typical hard vinyl. In order to test this premise they randomly selected 6 carpeted rooms and 10 rooms with vinyl floors. Air from all of the rooms was pumped over 16 petri dishes (one dish for each room) at a rate of 1 cubic foot per minute (ft3/min). Table 1 provides the descriptive statistics for the results of their study. The response variable is the number of bacteria per cubic foot.

FTR Ho at = 0.05 and do not conclude that, on average, bacteria counts differ between carpeted and vinyl flooring.FTR Ho at = 0.02 and do not conclude that, on average bacteria counts differ between carpeted and vinyl flooring.    Reject Ho at = 0.02 and conclude that, on average, bacteria counts differ between carpeted and vinyl flooring.Reject Ho at = 0.1 and conclude that, on average, bacteria counts differ between carpeted and vinyl flooring.FTR Ho at = 0.01 and do not conclude that, on average, bacteria counts differ between carpeted and vinyl flooring.Reject Ho at = 0.05 and conclude that, on average, bacteria counts differ between carpeted and vinyl flooring.Reject Ho at = 0.01 and conclude that, on average, bacteria counts differ between carpeted and vinyl flooring.FTR Ho at = 0.1 and do not conclude that, on average, bacteria counts differ between carpeted and vinyl flooring.
