A diver of weight 410 N stands at the end of a divino beard

A diver of weight 410 N stands at the end of a divino beard of length L = 3.9 m and neghgible mass (the figure). The beard is fixed to two pedectals soparated by diptance d = 0.73 m. Take the upward dinection to be posrtive. of the forces actiong on the board, what are (a) the force the left pepestal and (b) the force from the night pedestal?

Solution

Given,

weight = 410 N

L = 3.9 m

d = 0.73 m

a)

force from the left pedestal

w*(3.9 - 0.73) = 0.73*F

410*(3.9 - 0.73) = 0.73*F

F = 1780.411 N

Direction is down.

======================================

b)

force from the right pedestal

F = 1780.411 + 410 = 2190.411 N

Direction is up.
