1 At what points on the diagram is transpiration occurring 2

1) At what point(s) on the diagram is transpiration occurring?

2) At what point(s) on the diagram is tension occurring?

3) It\'s 100 degrees and not a cloud is in sight. What do you expect to happen to the rate of water movement through the plant. Explain why?

It will speed up, because the amount of water available to be absorbed by the roots is decreased.
Xylem tube Water from ylem Water leaving through stomata N water moves from soil

Solution

1.Transpiration occurs at points B AND C because transpiration is defined as the process of evaporation of water

from plants. This process usually occurs at the leaves making suthe re stomata are open for the passage of CO2

and O2 during photosynthesis. The stomatal openings is present at C and the exchange takes place inside through

the point B.

2.Tension occurs at point A. as the process of tension determines how water is pulled up from the roots to the top

of the plant. The roots of the plant is determined by point A.

3.It will slow down, because transpiration will decrease due to the lack of humidity gradient

because with no cloud the humidity gradient falls and the humidity leads to a fall in transpiration too being directly

proporrtional to it.
