Consider a circle with endpoints of a diameter of 7 13 and 3

Consider a circle with endpoints of a diameter of (7, 13) and (-3, -11). 1. Identify the Center, be sure your answer is an ordered pair. 2. What is the length of the Radius? 3. Write the equation of a circle in standard form.

Solution

Points (7,13) and (-3,-11) are the end points of the diameter, so d= Sqroot(((7+3)2 + (13+11)2))

Therefore d=26; so radius = 13.

The centre of the circle is the midpoint of the diamter, so C = (7-3)/2 , (13-11)/2; C = (2,1)

The midpoint of the Circle is (2,1).

The equation of the circle is X2 + Y2 = r2

Substituting the values, we get
(X-2)2 + (Y-1)2 = 169
