Battery 1 15 V with a capacity of 1A hr Battery 2 90 V

Battery # 1 - 1.5 V with a capacity of 1A # hr Battery # 2 - 9.0 V with a capacity of 2A # hr Light bulb - incandescent bulb with a fixed resistance of 10 Ohm # show work # a) Which battery continues the most energy? B) Which battery will cause the light bulb glow the brightness? C) Which battery contains the most charge? D) Which battery will energize the light bulb for the longest period of time?

Solution

a) An ampere-hour is a unit of current multiplied by a unit of time. Current is charge per unit time,

   so q1 = 1A *1hr =1A*3600sec =3600C

        q2 =2A*3600=7200C

E=q/V => E1= 3600/1.5 =2400J

   E2= 7200//9 =800J

battery that contains more enrgy= E1

b) more power dissipated more brightness so,

P1= V^2/R =1.5^2/10=0.225W

P2= 9^2/10 = 0.81W

P2 is more brighter

c) from a) q1=3600 q2=7200

Q2 is more

d) q1=i1*t =>t=q1/i1= 3600/(1.5/10 ) = 24000sec

q2=i2*t = 7200/(9/10)=8000sec

q1 energies more time
