John leaves his house at 10 am and drives east at 50 mph. Mike leaves his house at the same time and drives west at 45 mph. If their houses are connected by a straight highway running east-west (no stoplights or towns) and are 350 miles apart then how far from Johns house will they meet and what time will they meet?
 I do not know how to create the equation.
Solution
They are heading towards each other.
 The time will be the same since they left at the same time and will meet at the same time.
 The distance will be 350 miles.
 We set them up as distances and add them.
 rt=d
 RT+rt=350
 50t+45t=350
 divide by 5
 10t+9t=70
 19t=70
 t=70/19=3 13/19=221 minutes and 3 sec
 221-180=3 hr 41 minutes
 3 hr 41 min and 3 sec
 starting at 10 am
 ends at 1:41:03 pm
