Describe the motion profile shown in Figure 710 as it relate
Solution
DISCUSSION:-
Imagine initially an downward slope of road for about 2.5 units, followed by no slope road for about 3 units and then followed by an upward slope of road of about 2.5 units.
FOR JERK -- Imagine a bump initially at the start of the downward slope of the road, then imagine two cliffs on the no slope (plain) road and then again a bump at the end of the upward slope of the road. The motion profile that a vehicle will be tracing will be as shown in the graph above.
FOR ACCELERATION -- Due to the downward slope, the plain road and then the upward slope, the vehicle after starting from will experience initial steep acceleration then constant acceleration and then finally a steep deceleration coming to a halt. Profile will be as shown in the graph.
FOR VELOCITY -- The velocity will increase gradually from standstill, then remain constant and then decrease gradually coming to a standstill. Profile will be as shown in the graph.
FOR POSITION -- Consider / imagine a start symbol at the start of the downward slope near the bump and a stop symbol at the end of the upward slope near the bump. Then as the vehicle approaches from the start symbol towards the stop symbol, the vehicle will exhibit the position profile as shown in the graph above considering the end symbol as the target.
