Interspecific competition is the competition in the ecosystem between different species for the some limiting resource. The limiting resources includes food, mates, space etc. The competition happens when the demand of limiting recources is greater than its supply. When there is a competition, probably one species will be a good competitor than the other, which may reduce the population size of other species or negative influence on interspecific competition.

The best example is that the competition between small trees and tall trees for the sunlight. The availability of sunlight become reduced for the small trees due the presence of nearby tall trees. Another example is humans and elephants are competing for land area. Owls and foxes competition is an another good example, as both are eating rodents.
