The drawing shows three different resistors in two different circuits. The battery has a voltage of V = 23 V, and the resistors have resistances of R1 = 50.0 ?, R2 = 25.0 ? and R3 = 10.0 ?. Determine the current through and the voltage across each resistor.

Solution

Fo a) R1 , R2 and R3 are in series So Reqv = R1+R2+R3 = 85 ohm

So current through them = 25/85=.294 A.

So current through R1, R2 and R3 would be same = .294A.

voltage across R1= .294*50=14.7 V

Voltage across R2= .294*25 = 7.35 V

Voltage across R3= .294 *10=2.94 V

b) now these resistor are in parallel.so volateg across all would be same=23V

current through R1=23/50= .115 A

current through R2= 23/25 =.92 A

current through R3 = 23/10 = 2.3 A

The drawing shows three different resistors in two different circuits. The battery has a voltage of V = 23 V, and the resistors have resistances of R1 = 50.0 ?,
