Temperature continuously varies, and difference of 2 temperatures makes sense. But viewing 40 degree fahrenheit is twice of 20 does not make sense because it is not twice as hot (unless written in kelvins) Thus, this is interval level. This could have been a ratio variable if it was writen Kelvin (absolute temperature) instead of fahrenheit.

Rank of individuals is ordinal variable because because difference between 1st and 2nd rank is not same as the difference between 9 and 10th rank.

Number of people is interval level variable because difference of 2 numbers makes sense.
