Solve the triangle a1 b10 C40 degrees Do not round until the
Solve the triangle:
a=1, b=10, C=40 degrees
Do not round until the final answer. Then round to the nearest tenth as needed.
c=?
A= ? Degrees
B= ? Degrees
Solution
Using cosine rule:
c^2 = a^2 +b^2 -2abcosC
= 1^2 + 10^2 -2*1*10cos40
=85.68
c = 9.26
Using sine rule now:
c/sinC = a/sinA
sinA = a*sinC/c = 1*sin40/9.26 = 0.024
A = 1.41 deg , (180 -1.41 = 178.5 is not possible solution)
B = 180 - ( 40 + 1.41) = 138.59 deg
After rounding off: c = 9.3
A = 1.4 deg
B = 138.6 deg
