Answer: The eukaryotic cells are highly complex cellular systems as compared to prokaryotes. The complexity of eukaryotic cells can be deciphered in terms of huge variety in their size, shape, occurence, population size, molecular complexity at organeller level, highly complex genome and highly integrated molecular signalling. Compartmentalization of eukaryotic organelles further enhance the complexity of these cells. A number of biological processes are also constantly executed in an eukaryotic cell. The ability of eukaryotic cells to modulate their physiological function and resitance towards stress/stimuli make it further complex to perform molecular studies on eukaryotes.
On the contrary, the prokaryotic cells are much simpler in appearance, function and activities. The prokaryotic cells do not contain any comparmentalization, are smaller in size and simple in appearance. The prokaryotes normally divide by binary fission which further decreases their complexity.
