Two radio antennas 60 m apart broadcast a synchronized signal with a frequency of 100 MHz. Imagine that we have a detector 5.0 km from the antennas. At this distance, what is the separation between adjcent \"bright spots\" in the interference pattern along a line parallel to the line between the antennas?

Solution

the distance of n th maxima from the mean position: Xn = nD / 2d

here, D is distance of the detector, 2d is disatnce between two antenna

the wavelength is, = c / f

here, c is speed of light and f is frequency.

hence, the disatcen between two adjecent bright spots is,

              Xn - X n-1 = D / 2d = (c/f)D / 2d = (3x10^8 / 100x10^6)*5000 / 60 = 250 m
