Suppose the point 6 14 is on the graph of y fx Find a point
Suppose the point (6, 14) is on the graph of y = f(x). Find a point on the graph of the function y = f(2x). Find a point on the graph of the function y = f(1/2x). Find a point on the graph of the function y = f(2x). Square box (Type an ordered pair.) Find a point on the graph of the function y = f(1/2x). square box (Type an ordered pair.)

  Solution
(a) The 2 of 2x will multiply the x-value by a factor 1/2. So the new value of x - coordinate becomes
6 x 1/2 = 3
The new coordinates of the point (6, 14) will be (3, 14)
(b) The 1/2 of (1/2) will multiply the x- coordinate by a factor 2. Therefore new x = 6 x 2 = 12
The new coordinates of the point (6, 14) will be (12, 14)
