Solution
Pick one wave of EKG and describe the activity that cause the wave
Overview of EKG
It is also called as ECG
It is nothing but an electrocardiogram, which is a test that is performed to check problems related with the electrical activity of the heart.
The electrical activity of heart can be observed as line tracings on the paper.
The waves can be seen with spikes and dips in those line tracings.
A typical ECG cycle consists of a P wave, a QRS complex and a T wave.
Sometimes U wave can be seen, but not always.
We care taking the P wave it is the first wave on ECG
The activity that cause the wave is:
This indicates the atrial depolarization, occurs during atrial systole or during atrial contract. .
The action potential for the heart is generated in the SA node, this is located on the atria, and because of this reason the P wave will be the first wave on the ECG.
From this it sends the action potentials through Bachmann’s bundle. This is done to depolarize the muscle cells of atrium.
The variation in the size of P waves shows us that there is some problem with the concentrations of K+ ions in the body and further they will alter the nerve cells activity.
Atrial fibrillation is seen where P wave will be missing in the graph. This is where heart beats irregularly cardiac arrhythmia is seen.
