A tension member consists of a single angle L152x102x16 welded with 400mm of fillet weld (200mm along the heel and 200mm along the toe) to a plate of size 16x250. The angle is centered across the width of the plate. Calculate Ane for the angle and for the plate. Note that Ane of the angle corresponds to a potential fracture along line 1-1, and of the plate to a potential fracture along line 2-2 Ensure that your solution includes a plan view (such as that given below) and a cross sectional view. Fpr plate 16x 250 Ane = 0.9Ag =0.9*250*16=3600 mm2

for angele section

U= 1-X/L= 1-27.2/200=0.864

U=Bfxtf /Ag =102*16/3790 =0.43

= max of two=0.864

Ane =U*Ag = 0.864 *3790= 3274.56 mm2
