The anterior part is located to the hypothalamus is a region of the diancephamlon with \"Medial preoptic nucleus & medial medial preoptic nucleus\" whereas posterior part is Lateral nucleus & tuberomammillary nucleus. The superior part of hypothalamus is associated ventromedial nucleus & arcuate nucleus. Lateral parts of the hypothalaus is associated with lateral nucleus & dorsomedial Lateral nucleus. The inferior part is limbic system with limbic system. Hypothalamus in the midbrain regulates autonomic nervous system including the fight or flight response. The thalamus of the limbic system is involved in directing senses into the cortex for instance the sense of smell is processed geographically in amygdala, thereby it is speculated that sense of smell is closely related to emotions
