Solution
I wish to work in the financial consultancy division of Bain and company - a professional consultancy firm.
The specific skills that i will be learning as an apprentice are:
The practice technique that will be used is that the apprentice will be working on live projects by assisting the consultants and managers on basic areas of engagement. This will give the apprentice the exposure of working on live projects, how to deal with clients and how to work in a corporate environment. At the end of the apprenticeship period, presentation will be given by the apprentice.
The feedback process will be directl and will be given to the apprentice by the manager or the consultant that the apprentice is working under. There will be an ongoing, constant informal feedback during work. At the end of the project, there will be a detailed, written formal feedback covering various technical skills as well as soft skills.
The apprentice will work for 25 hours per week, and can work on flexible hours.
The entire apprenticeship is expected to consume 4 months.
The advantages of the program is that the apprentice will learn new skills and will be almost job ready by the end of the program.
The disadvantage is that many apprentices do not take the program seriously.
