Is the following pair of events independent A bulb in a car
Is the following pair of events independent?

A bulb in a car turn signal light burned out.
The car had a collision accident at an intersection.
Solution
The two events are said to be independent when the occurence of one does not affect the occurence of the other in any other way.
Here, the probability of the car having an accident would in no way affect the chances of the bulb burning out.
Thus, one can safely say that the two events are independent.
Hope this helps. Ask if you have any doubts.
