Solution

Metabolic acidosis & Intravenous sodium bicarbonate therapy:

metabolic acidosis is an acid –base disorder occurs when our body is producing more acidic compounds such as lactic acid, and losing more sodium bicarbonate ions thereby reduction of blood PH from isotonic PH 7.4. Generally, the bicarbonate buffer should be given to bring the blood isotonic PH to normal equilibrium level (7.2 to 7.4). In general, bicarbonate should be given at an arterial blood pH of 7.0. The amount given should be what is calculated to bring the pH up to 7.2.
