Problem 12.219 Vertical motion of the load is produced by movement of the piston at A on the boom. The cable is attached at B, passes over the pulley at C, then D, E, F, and again around E, and is attached at G Eigure 1) Figure 1 \'of! Solution
Moving the pulley C by distance x, pulls the string of length 2x from the pulley D.
Similarly lifting the load by height h, pull the string of length 2h from pulley E.
So when we lift the load by 9ft, D pulls 18 ft of string and pulley C moves by 9ft.
So Pulley C must move by 9 ft.
