Glycolysis is inter-related to citric acid cycle via \"pyruvate decarboxylation\" or Swanson conversion, in which pyruvate is decarboxylated to acetyl co-A. Cytosolic calcium stimulates pyruvate decarboxylase activity to generate acetyl co A via “Swanson conversion”. Cytosolic divalent (Ca2+) have specific activity to promote “metabolite transfer” at the inner mitochondrial membrane whereas increase in mitochondrial matrix calcium is going to stimulate citric acid cycle & ATP synthase through Ca(2+) -regulated mitochondrial carriers. Citrate & ATP are going to inhibit citric acid cycle through feedback inhibition. On ther hand, glycolysis is also inter-related to gluconeogenesis (as described below) and citric acid cycle is also inter-related to \"de novo nucleotide synthesis\"

Glucose -6- phosphatase is the enzyme that catalyses the conversion of the Glucose-6-phosphate to glucose (by releasing phosphate group) and which is considered to be the last and final reaction step in both gluconeogenesis

Four predominant enzymes that very crucial for gluconeogenesis are

1) Pyruvate carboxylase: Allosterically activated by acetyl coenzyme A; It converts pyruvate to oxaloacetate using ATP, bicarbonate and it possess biotynilated lysine residues.

2) Phosphoenol pyruvate (PEP) carboxykinase: It produces PEP from oxaloacetate

3) Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate : It converts fructose-1,6-bisphosphate to fructose-6-phosphate4) Glucose-6-phosphate.
