Walking through the forest you come to a dry creek bed, and notice that there are many types of fungus growing on the north-facing sides of the larger rocks. Come up with a hypothesis to explain this, and an experiment to test your hypothesis. Your experiment can be very simple, and can be set up indoors or outdoors, but you do need to be very specific about what data you will record in order to know if you have or have not found evidence in support of your hypothesis. Solution

The reason might be north facing site getting lesser sunlight compared to south facing site and due to dampness at north facing site of rocks, the fungi grows. Thus south facing slopes of rocks because of high sunlight are drier, warmer and north facing slopes of rocks because of low light conditions are damper. This leads to plants which can sustain light and dry conditions grow on the south side of rocks and plants which can grow in damp conditions grow on north slopes of rocks.
