Direct but short answer to the following problem:
A teacher gave his 4th grade class two spelling tests. The mean on the first test was 50 and its standard deviation was 3.The mean on the second test was 41 with a standard deviation of 6.What does this indicate in general about the distribution of the scores on the second test relative to the first test?
Solution
The data indicate that the performance of the class was poor in the second test relative to the fist test, as the mean in the secon test is lower. And also the performance was not consistence in the second test relative to the first test, as the standard deviation is higher in second test.
