What is the purpose of a calibration? Suppose an instrument is labeled as \"calibrated, \" What should this mean to you as an engineer?
Solution
The purpose of calibration is for maintaining the quality of measurement as well as to ensure the proper working of particular instrument.
It basically compares our instument to the standard instument for same quantity measurement and tells us if any error is there in our device.
If we have a calibrated instrument, it means it has already been compared and if there is any kind of error( positive or negative) there, it will be mentioned there. And we can use that to measure the value of our quatity accurately as per the standard.
