Summarize all the loads and quantitatively describe their effect on vehicle properties (acceleration, braking, fuel consumption). Please include the scenarios discussed.
Solution
Various Load Acting on the Frame are :-
Effects :-
Dynamic effects due to moving vehicles may be attributed to two sources:
Hammering effect is the dynamic response of the wheel assembly to riding surface discontinuities, such as deck joints, cracks, potholes and delaminations.
Dynamic response of the bridge as a whole to passing vehicles, which may be due to long undulations in the roadway pavement, such as those caused by settlement of fill, or to resonant excitation as a result of similar frequencies of vibration between bridge and vehicle.
Impact factor increases as vehicle speed increases, impact factor decreases as bridge span increases. Under the condition of “Very good” road surface roughness (amplitude of highway profile curve is less than 0.4 in.) the impact factor is well below the design specifications. But the impact factor increases tremendously with increasing road surface roughness from “good” to “poor”
