Army rank such as soldier corporal sergeant lieutenant etcet
Army rank (such as soldier, corporal, sergeant, lieutenant etcetera) is a variable with an ordinal scale. True or False?
Solution
It looks like an ordinal variable. An ordinal variable is a like label which can be ordered. For example: Rank 1-2-3 can be ordered. But it is not interval variable because difference do not make sense, i.e, different between 3,2 rank may not be same as different between 2 and 1.
Here, Army rank is ordinal because soldier < corporal < sergeant < leutenant)
I do not know everything about army ranks, so there might be two uncomparable ranks, in which case this variable will be called just nominal . (name variable without any order)
