Explain how PCBs affect different trophic levels in fish, birds, and whales
Solution
The polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are going to affect different trophic levels in fish, birds and whales (mammalian vertebrates) even at low concentrations may generate relatively high accumulation of PCB in different biota. The primary consumers (trophic level II in food web) such as fishes are accumulated with PCB if the aquatic environment is contaminated with high PCB follo0wed by transfer of POCB to birds when they consume small fishes in the aquatic environment (trophic level III). When the marine mammals such as whales are going to eat these fishes are result in differential pathological changes such as reproductive failures etc. If the humans (tertiary trophic level) are going to consume these result in toxic effects
