Specific Gravity and Absorption of Fine Aggregate (AASHTO T84)
1-What are the possible sources of errors in this experiment?
2-How does aggregate quality can be assessed by percent absorption of aggregate?
3-Explain how can we find out specific gravity of an aggregate mix that contains both coarse and fine aggregates.
Solution
Common errors are as follows:
1. Improper SSD will leads to erroneous value of specific gravity.
2. Inaccurate measurement of aggregate and water quantities.
3. Room temperature should be with in the prescribed limit i.e 27 degrees
