The diameter of a ball is 222 in Fifteen balls fit snugly in

The diameter of a ball is 2.22 in. Fifteen balls fit snugly into a wooden rack, as shown in the accompanying figure. The rack is an equilateral triangle whose sides are 0.26 in thick. Find the outside perimeter of the rack to the nearest tenth of an inch. The outside perimeter of the rack to the nearest tenth of an inch is in. (Simplify your answer Round to the nearest tenth as needed.)

Solution

diameter of each ball = 2.22 in

therefore, lets find the length of each side of a triangle

length of each side = 5*2.22 + .26 + .26 = 11.62

outside perimeter = sum of each side of a triangle = 11.62 + 11.62 + 11.62 = 34.86 inch or 34.9 inch
