A plant occupies an area with optimum soil fertility optimum

A plant occupies an area with optimum soil fertility, optimum light availability, optimum water availability, but only grows between April and October. What is probably the limiting factor in this case? Indicate a simple experiment you could do to test your hypotheses.

Solution

The limitng factor is the hugeamount of sunlight.During these months from april to october the sunlight is maximum while in other months the sunlight is reduced or at times there is no sun in winters. This prevents the plant to grow inspite of all the nutrients .

The experiment is as follows

1.Grow a plant in winters

2.Grow a plant in summers

3.After 1 year check the growth of both plants and provide them with soil fertility, water

4.we will see the plant grown in winters is shorter than the one in summers.

5.The reason is lack of sunlight
