The rate of change of f is negative and the rate of change of g is positive.

The rate of change of g is larger than the rate of change of f.

The rate of change of f is positive and the rate of change of g is negative.

The rate of change of f and the rate of change of g are equal.

Solution

f(x) = 2.9

This is all the x-values at which y = 2.9

What we can do is draw a horizontal line thru y = 2.9

And notice that intersects the curve at three points namely....

x = 2.2 , 5.2 and 6.9 ----> ANSWER

b)

Now, average rate of change of g is just the slope of the line between
(2.2 , 2.9) and (6.2 , 4.9)

Notice these are the exact same points on f as well...
So, avg rate of change of f would also be the slope between the endpoints
(2.2 , 2.9) and (6.2 , 4.9)

So, infact these values are one and the same
