Solution

Total volume of cut = 460 cy

Total volume of dirt after shrinkage and swelling =

460 + 460×28÷100 - 460×5÷100 = 565.8

(Because of shrinkage volume of soil will decrease and swelling will leads to increase in volume)

Extra volume need to be imported for fill

= 591.2 - 565.8 = 25.4 cy
