Transform the polar equation to an equation in rectangular c

Transform the polar equation to an equation in rectangular coordinates. Then identify and graph the equation theta = pi/3

Solution

given theta = pi / 3

we know x = r cos (theta ) and y = r sin(theta )

and tan (theta ) = y / x -------> (1 )

substitute theta = pi / 3 in (1 )

tan (  pi / 3 ) = y / x

therefore y / x = sqrt(3)

equation is y = x sqrt(3)

it is a line like y = mx + c
