Let\'s say you have a circular piece of DNA that is 1508 base-pairs in length.

If this DNA molecule was allowed to adopt its most stable form, what would be the value of its twist?

Solution

total base pairs are 1508 . there are usyally ywo form of DNA - A and B form. usually in cell B is the predominant and more stable than A form. In B form of DNA one turn of helix contains 10 base pairs per turn. so 1508 pairs will possibly give nearly 150.8 twists. Where as in A form each helix contians 11 base pairs..so toatl number of helix are nearly 137.
