A rigid container holds 50 kg saturated liquid water at 90 degree C. Determine the pressure in the tank and the volume of the tank. If 200 g of saturated liquid water is completely vaporized at a constant pressure of 100 kPa, determine the volume change and the total energy transferred to the water.

Solution

from the saturated water and temeprature table, the pressure in the tank at 90oC is,

      P = 70.183 kPa

at 90oC, specific volume is,

    vf = 0.001036 m^3/kg

hence, the volume of the water is,

   V = 0.001036*50 = 0.0518 m^3
