Ans :- Immunohematology more commonly known as blood banking is a branch of hematology which studies antigen - antibody reactions and analogous phenomenon as they relate to the pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of blood disorders.

1) An autocontrol is an additional test that contains the individuals red blood cell suspension and plasma is tested in parallel with the antibody screen cells.

   A positive result in the autocontrol at the AHG(anti -human globulin) phase indicates an antibody coating the red cells.This antibody may be removed from the cell and identified in the same manner as antibody in the plasma.

2) If all the forward and reverse as well as the auto control are positive,wash the cell with warm saline and autoadsorb the serum at 40 C. If the result are negative incubate the cell at 220C or 40 C to enhance weak expression.
