Q1) Convert Q = 17(0.555)^t to the form ???y = a*e^(kt).

Q2) Give the starting value a, the growth rate r, and the continuous growth rate k.

?Q=2^-((?t-9)/7)

Round your answer for a to four decimal places and your answers for r and k to two decimal places.

Solution

comparing the two equations we can write

.555 = e^k

taking ln on both sides

ln .555=k ln e

-.5887 = k

therefore, equation is

Q = 17 e^-.5887 t

a = 17

k = -.5887

1) Q = 2^-((t-9)/7)

= 2^(-t/7)*2^(9/7)

=2^9/7[2^(-1/7)]^t

a = 2^9/7= 2.438

1+r = 2^(-1/7) = 1/1.04 = 0.96

r = -0.038 = - 3.8%

Now Q = ae^kt comparing with this

Q = 2.438(0.96)^t

e^k = 0.96

take ln on both sides:

k = ln(0.96) =-0.04

So, k = -0.04 = -4%

Q1) Convert Q = 17(0.555)^t to the form ???y = a*e^(kt). Q2) Give the starting value a, the growth rate r, and the continuous growth rate k. ?Q=2^-((?t-9)/7) Ro
