The following angles are constructed in a circle with a radius of 1 such that the initial ray is in standard position (passing through the points (0, 0) and (1, 0)), and the terminal ray passes through the point (x, y) on the unit circle. If theta = 3.5 radians then (x, y) = (, ) If theta = 5.6 radians then (x, y) = (, ) If theta = 1.4 radians then (x, y) = (, )

Solution

a.    theta= 3.5 radians and radius=1

      theta= 3.5*180/pi degree= 200.64 degree

x= rcos theta= 1cos 200.64= -.9358

y=rsin theta= 1 sin 200.64=-.3525

Therefore (x,y)= (-.9358,-.3525)

b.theta=5.6 radians=5.6*180/pi degree= 321.02 degree

(x,y)=(cos321.02,sin321.02)= (.7774,-.6290)

c. theta=1.4 radians=1.4*180/pi degree= 80.26 degree

(x,y)= (cos80.26,sin80.26)=(.1692,.9856)

 The following angles are constructed in a circle with a radius of 1 such that the initial ray is in standard position (passing through the points (0, 0) and (1
