A person having a strong passion against drinking is in no way compromising on his personal values and beliefs by accepting a job with Anheuser Busch. Just by being an employee of Anheuser Busch does not mean that the person is letting go of his value and belief against drinking. He is merely seeking employment opportunity in a firm for a job which is suitable for his skill sets.

Clearly there is no cognitive dissonance. Cognitive dissonance can be defined as a state where an individual is holding 2 or more contradictory beliefs. The theory states that individuals seek consistency between their expectations and their reality. In this case, the individual has a disonnance between his expectation of not drinking (dislike of drinking) and reality of working in a liquor company. In this case the person is being pragmatic, rational and practical. He cannot let go of a lucrative employement opportunity, just because of his personal beliefs. Here, he does not even has to compromise on his personal beliefs.
