Work out the size and type of transformer required to supply

Work out the size and type of transformer required to supply the total complex load, assuming total connected load of:
*960kVa for flats
* 720 kVa for offices
40 kW at p.f=0.8 lag at shopping centre
18 kW at p.f=0.9 lag at car park light

Make allowances for 40% diversity for flats and 60% for offices. Allow 10% spare capacity

My calculation is:
(960*0.4+ 720*0.6+ 40*cos(36.87)*+18*cos(25.84))* 1.1 = 950.62KVA

Is it correct?

Solution

40 percent diversity for flats=> 40% of 960 kVa: 384 kVa is individual maimum demand for flats

60 percent diversity for offices: 60% of 720 kVa: 432kVa is individual maimum demand for offices

now for shopping centre 40 kw at a pf 0.8 lag: delivered kva should be 50 kVa(50kVa*0.8=40kw)

for car park light 18kW at pf of 0.9 lag is required: delivered kva should be 20 kVa (20*0.9=18)

Total kVa reqd: 384+432+50+20 kVa: 886 kVa

10 percent spare capacity: 88.6 kVa

TOTAL kVa req: 974.6 kVa
