A wheel is rotating at 8 radianssec and the wheel has a 33in

A wheel is rotating at 8 radians/sec, and the wheel has a 33-inch diameter. What is the speed of a point on the rim? 665 ft/min 655 ft/min 650 ft/min 660 ft/min

Solution

R = radius = (33/2) inches=16.5 inches...is also the arc length: { inches/rad }

= angular velocity { rads/sec }

V = velocity of a point on the rim { inches/sec }

V = R•

V = (16.5 inches/rad)•(8 rads/sec)

V = 132 inches/sec

V = (132 inches/sec)•(60 sec/min) (12 inches/ft)

C = 2•R = circumference of the rim { inches }

V = 660 ft/min

Answer is Option D

 A wheel is rotating at 8 radians/sec, and the wheel has a 33-inch diameter. What is the speed of a point on the rim? 665 ft/min 655 ft/min 650 ft/min 660 ft/mi
