People who are homozygous dominant for the West Nile resistance trait have the strongest resistance to West Nile Virus. Explain why these people do NOT have a heterozygous advantage, and compare and contrast this with an example we discussed in class.

Solution

Homozygous dominant trait has both alleles of same type and one allele complements the other allele so that the resistance is enhanced. Whereas in the case of heterozygous case, the resistance is not upto the mark and the transmit those heterozygous genes to their children who may or may not get resistance against west nile virus.
