Rates high for fast and correct answer. How do homopolar motors have in common with the Aurora Borealis?

Solution

The charged particles emitting from the sun reaches the earth magnetic field. The electric currents are produced in the filed of the Earth\'s field due to the interaction between the charged particles and the magnetic field. If the velocity component of the charged particle is perpendicular the magnetic field, the strong electric currents are produced. This is called electromagneti induction. If the velocity component of the charged particles is paralllel to the earth\'s magnetic field , they get accelerated and emit radiation. This visible radiaiton is called Aurora Borealis.

Similarly the homopolar motor also works under the same priciple of electromagnetic induction, The changing magnetic flux through the loop produces electric current.
