Assume we sampled a continuous x t signal and obtained 100 x
Assume we sampled a continuous x (t) signal and obtained 100 x(n) time-domain samples. What important information (parameter that we need to know in order to analyze x (t)) is missing from the x(n) sequence?
Solution
The parameter we need to know in order to say whether signal x(t) is contained in x[n] or not is the sampling time or sampling frequency .
If samnpling interval is very large the information contained in signal x(t) will be lost after sampling.
This criteria is governed by nyquist sampling theorem which states that for reconstruction of signal with out loss of information sampling frequency must be greater than twice the maximum frequency component of x(t).
