A person owns 2 shops This year the telephone bill for the 1
A person owns 2 shops. This year the telephone bill for the 1st shop was $660 less than twice the telephone bill for the second shop. The total telephone expense for both shops was $1593. What was the cost of each shops telephone service for the year?
Solution
let A be the first shop and B be the second shop
let the telephone bill for second shop be x
therefore telephone bill for first shop is 2x-660
the telephone bills of two shops are
2x-660+x=1593
3x=1593+660
3x=2193
x= 731 is the telephone bill for second shop
2x-660= 2x731-660= 862 is the telephone bill for first shop
