As we know that every organsim is made up of several genes. Each of these genes express themselves through the production of proteins which can be of different types. These proteins have a variety of functions in the body, from digesting food, to maintaing homeostasis, to maintaing oxygen and blood etc.

Gene regulation is the process which controls the expression of these gene products called proteins.

This is very important. Just when your body decides to produce blood, it cannot start and not stop. This mechanism of how much blood to produce, when to start and when to stop is called gene regulation.

It happens all the time in the body. when we have a new type of diet, when there are changes in the environment such as climatic, when there are changes within the body such as decrease or increase of body substances etc.
