A 12-foot-long rectangulr board is cut in two pieces so that one piece is four times as long as the other. How long will it take for the bigger piece?

12 foot rectangular piece is cut into two pieces

let length of one piece is x foot long \'

then length of other would be 4x foot

so we can frame the equation from here

small piece + big piece = 12 foot

x + 4x = 12

5x = 12

x = 12/5 = 2.4 feet

therefore , bigger piece = 4*2.4 = 9.6 feet long
